The transformation of the vacant railway arches in Gateshead town centre.

The space has been brought back into use as a venue for pop up food stalls, performances, outdoor workshops and year round events, helping to create new energy and activity in the town centre. This project reflects the value of positive community action, showing how collaboration between artists, organisations and local businesses can strengthen connections, support creativity and build a shared sense of place. Contributors to the project include:

Mark One87, Gateshead College, Gateshead Recovery Partnership, Orbis Community, local businesses, and artists Toby Heaps and Chris Fleming. The work has been supported by the North East Combined Authority and Mayor Kim McGuinness, contributing to the continued growth of Gateshead’s cultural and creative community.
